Historic Dexter House and Interlaken Hotel Resort - October 25, 2007

The Dexter House The Historic Interlaken Resort and Dexter House is located on the south side of Twin Lakes and once acted as a resort and hotel for the wealthy in the late 1800's. From the village of Twin Lakes, people would usually travel on a boat across the lake to reach the resort. Today, I walked approximately two miles along the lake on the Colorado Trail to reach the historic area. I drove on Lake County Road 25 along the east side of the lake to the trailhead area. The adjacent photos are of the Dexter House, which was a private residence of the owner of the resort.

I included the view of Mt. Elbert in the top photo and one of the historic signs. Reclamation work is currently being done to many of the standing structures.
